Но десемантизация этого слова продолжается. Что такое, например, compelling national theme? Пример: Absent compelling national themes, Campaign ‘98 will be a race-by-race slugfest (Business Week). Здесь может подойти столь же «растяжимое» русское слово, например, серьезная, крупная.
